Off-Base Storage

• Pros: Full range of storage types from outdoor to climate-controlled. Better protection for your vehicle. More availability and flexibility on lease terms.
• Cons: Costs money out of pocket (though often reimbursable). Requires more research and planning.
• Military discounts are common at off-base storage facilities. Always ask, and show your military ID. Many facilities near bases offer 10-20% military discounts.

Choosing a Facility Near Your Base

When selecting off-base storage, prioritize these factors:

• Proximity to your installation for easy drop-off and pickup. Facilities within 15-20 minutes of the gate are ideal.
• Flexible lease terms. Military orders change. Look for facilities that offer month-to-month leases or will let you break a lease early with valid PCS or deployment orders.
• Power of attorney access. If a family member or battle buddy needs to access your vehicle while you are deployed, confirm the facility allows POA-based access.

Preparing Your Vehicle for Deployment Storage

Military deployments can last 6-15 months. Proper preparation is essential:
